Down 11-4 after five innings, the Viking Softball team staged a comeback by scoring 6 runs in the 6th inning & 2 runs in the 7th inning to take the 12-11 victory over the host Spartans of Sparta. Lucy Tucker took the win, pitching 7 innings in the game striking out five. Kierra Hyrns caught both games and was a deciding factor due to her defensive effort. Hyrns also had a great day at the plate to go along with ruling the base paths. Big hits by Natalie Manzo, Chase Baker, Taylor Ottinger Harper Leon, Anela Hyrns, Lucy Tucker, & Emma Singleton sealed the win. Makalya Tyler got her first hit of the year in the game to seal the one run victory.

In game two, the Vikings jumped out early scoring 10 runs in the first inning, before prevailing 17-6. Anela Hyrns picked up the victory in game two striking out four. Once again, strong run support and timely hitting by Kierra Hyrns, Natalie Manzo, Lucy Tucker, Anela Hyrns, Chase Baker, Taylor Ottinger, Alison Schaeffer, Emma Singleton, & Tessa Holm gave Anela all she needed to pick up the victory.

The wins move the Vikings to 7-2 on the season. The Vikings host Hart on Thursday, May 6 in conference action.
